About Honours Bachelor Of Craft And Design (textiles) in Sheridan College (Ontario)

Design and create outstanding work

Our Textiles Studio provides a range of traditional and contemporary techniques and methods. Learning from design professionals in our state-of-the-art facilities, you'll get hands-on experience in 2D and 3D fibre-specific approaches, including printing, weaving, dyeing, off-loom techniques, digital design and sewing. We foster and encourage experimentation and exploration of the fibre medium.

Our commitment to sustainable practices

With a growing awareness of sustainable industry practices, the Textiles Studio is committed to doing our part. We purchase our dyes from reputable suppliers and grow and harvest our own natural dyes in our Dye Garden, right here on campus. You'll also help to care for our Dye Garden, making a positive environmental impact and embracing greener textile practices.

Learning Outcomes

The successful completion of this program will enable the graduate to:

  • Plan and execute the creation of objects following a creative process of research, ideation, visualization, analysis, production and evaluation.

  • Incorporate knowledge of contemporary and historical art and design theories, principles and historical practices in the conceptualization and development of studio work.

  • Engage in meaningful discourse regarding the larger social context of a craft or design practice.
