Kings College London (KCL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom, and Kings College London is England's third oldest university founded by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington in 1829
King's is generally regarded as part of the "golden triangle" of elite universities located in Oxford, Cambridge and London, England.
It is the 12th largest university in the United Kingdom with a total enrolment of more than 31,000 students from some 150 countries around the world and some 8,500 staff.
Its academic activities are organized into nine faculties, which are divided into several departments, centers and research divisions.
King's has a particularly distinguished reputation in the fields of humanities, law, science and social sciences, including international affairs.
It also includes the world's first nursing school, the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery.
The King's alumni and staff are made up of 12 Nobel laureates.
King's has played a major role in many of the advances that shape modern life, such as the discovery of the DNA structure and research that led to the development of radio, television, mobile phones and radar.
King's has five campuses:
The Strand Campus is the King's founding campus and is located on the Westminster City shore. The Strand Campus is home to the King's Arts and Science Faculties, including the Faculties of Arts & Humanities, Law, Business, Social Science & Public Policy and Natural & Mathematical Sciences.
Guy's Campus is located near London Bridge and is home to the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine and the Dental Institute.
The Waterloo Campus is situated across the Waterloo Bridge from the Strand Campus. Waterloo campus is home to the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery and other faculties.
St Thomas Campus is located near the Waterloo Campus and home to continuing medical and dental education, as well as the Florence Nightingale Museum. St. Thomas' is just a five minute walk from the Waterloo Campus along the river.
All of these campuses are located on the Thames River Denmark Hill Campus is the only non-Thames Campus.
Denmark Hill Campus is located in South London, near the border of the London Borough of Lambeth and the London Borough of Southwark in Camberwell.
King's is the most central university in London with four of its five campuses based within a single square mile beside the Thames between Westminster and London Bridge.
King's College London ranks seventh in the UK, according to The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020.
Globally, it was ranked 33rd in the 2020 QS World University Rankings and 36th in the 2020 World University Rankings, 25th in the 2020 Complete University Guide and 63rd in the 2020 Guardian University Guide.
King's has an outstanding reputation for world-class teaching and advanced research. The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) King's ranked 6th nationally in the 'power' ranking, taking into account both the quality and quantity of research activity, and 7th in the quality ranking according to the Times Higher Education ranking. 84 per cent of King's research was considered 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent.'

To gain permission to enter the UK as a student from outside the European Economic Area, it is likely a student will need to apply for a Tier 4 student visa. The student must hold an unconditional offer from King’s to apply for a visa. Once received the unconditional offer, KCL will issue the student with a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number, which is required in order to apply for the Tier 4 student visa.
