About Finance Bsc Honours in University of Westminster, London

The Finance BSc Honours will enable you to develop your understanding of modern finance theories and applications. The course enhances your analytical abilities, together with the team-working, problem-solving, communication skills and commercial awareness needed in a complex global financial world. You will gain a broader understanding of the socio-economic, legal and professional environment within which finance operates. A unique feature of this course is that you will be able to use Westminster Business School’s Financial Markets Suite (FMS). The FMS utilises the Bloomberg platform, a state-of-the-art teaching and research resource used widely by leading global financial institutions. All of our final year students get an early career immersion experience of using this powerful database to make informed financial decisions. 

The skills and knowledge you develop will open up a range of job opportunities in areas such as asset financing, banking, financial planning, hedge funds, investment analysis, risk management, stockbroking, wealth management and treasury. The course is also designed to help your progression to professional qualifications and matches the needs of relevant professional bodies.

Westminster Business School has been selected as a Centre of Excellence in financial markets by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). The CISI is the largest professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally. We are also recognised as a University Affiliation Program partner by the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute. The professional body recognises that a substantial candidate body of knowledge of the Level 1 CFA program is embodied in our degree course.

As well as a firm grounding in finance fundamentals alongside core modules in management, the course offers you the opportunity to study a wide variety of specialist finance modules including banking, corporate finance, corporate governance, financial markets, financial modelling and statistics, investments, portfolio management, risk management, and securities analysis.

Teaching methods focus on active student learning through seminars, workshops, problem-based and blended learning (including group work) designed to engage your interest in the finance subject area. Assessment methods may include essays, reports, presentations, case studies, and in-class tests as well as time-constrained exams.

• HSC XII: CBSE, ICSE, Kolkata, or Tamil Nadu boards with an overall average of 70% or above*
• HSC XII: West Bengal board with an overall average of 58% or above*
• HSC XII: Maharashtra or Gujarat boards with an overall average of 75% or above*
• HSC XII: All other state boards with an overall average of 80%+ or above*
• a recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution or an Indian institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%

English language requirements (one of the below):

•  IELTS: 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each component
• TOEFL iBT : 78 overall with a minimum of 17 in Listening, and Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking 
• PTE:54 average with 51 in each component
