Geologists have a significant role to play in addressing many of the challenges facing society. For example, as geologists we contribute to the building of bridges, tunnels and their associated hazards; understanding of aquifer systems and hydrocarbon reservoirs; and the development of new forms of electricity. These industries are currently growing and are in need of well-trained geologists.
