About Learning Disabilities Nursing Bnursing (hons) in University of West London

This exciting new course delivered from September 2019 will be approved against the new Nursing and Midwifery Council Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses (May 2018). These standards set out the knowledge and skills you as the next generation of learning disabilities nurses will learn, to enable you to deliver world class person-centred, evidence-based care.

This practical nursing for learning disabilities course will prepare you to help people with special needs in a range of healthcare settings. 

You will spend equal time on practice placement and in the classroom. On graduation, you will be ready to find rewarding work as a specialised nurse.

You will also benefit from high-tech teaching resources, a dedicated tutor and highly experienced staff. A number of our teaching staff are involved with important research in this field, and their expertise will inform your learning.

Designed with input from students, service users and our partners in the NHS and voluntary and independent sectors, the course will prepare you for current practice.

ou need to meet our English language requirement:

  • a minimum of IELTS 7.0 in Speaking, Reading and Listening and 6.5 in Writing, or
  • OET (Occupational English Test) grade B (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). Note that we can only accept results of tests taken from Feb 2016 onwards.

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

•    International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma (From a minimum 25 points depending on course)
•    British/ International A Levels (From a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
•    Indian Standard 12/HSC (minimum average of 55% depending on exam board)
•    Second and final year entry on a bachelor's degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile
•    A recognised foundation course
