About Computing And Information Systems (intensive) Bsc (hons) in University of West London

Our computing degree will help you to gain the key skills and knowledge that employers value, so you can begin your career with confidence.

This is a part-time intensive course, which means that you will be able to balance your studies with other commitments. You will have classes on Saturdays throughout the academic year. Wherever possible, we will also allow your relevant work activities to contribute towards your academic assessments.

To prepare you for employment, this course will focus on practical skills influenced by current developments and by industry requirements. This means that you will learn to use core industry tools and software while gaining an understanding of theory and research. This combination will help you to develop into a competent computing professional.

Throughout the course, our highly experienced staff will support your development as a computing professional. You will gain essential knowledge of:

  • commonly used software, such as Java and Oracle
  • the theory, practice and applications of computing and information systems
  • how these systems work in dynamic environments within various organisations.

Interactive learning plays an important part on this course. At each level, you will have opportunities to work on projects, as well as contribute to group discussions and class exercises. These opportunities will enhance your teamwork and communications skills, which will help you in your current and future roles.

Your final project will give you the chance to focus on an area of computing that is of particular interest to you.

 

 

You need to meet our English language requirement - a minimum of IELTS 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). 

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

•    International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma (From a minimum 25 points depending on course)
•    British/ International A Levels (From a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
•    Indian Standard 12/HSC (minimum average of 55% depending on exam board)
•    Second and final year entry on a bachelor's degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile
•    A recognised foundation course
