This airline and airport management course is designed to build the skills and experience you will need to work as a manager within the aviation industry. It is accredited by the Institute of Travel and Tourism, a professional membership body for those working in travel and tourism in the UK.
We have links with nearby Heathrow Airport Ltd and other aviation companies. This enables us to arrange teaching visits from leading industry figures to help you develop a strong understanding of the field of aviation. Our links with relevant organisations may also be useful if you decide to look for a work placement during your studies.
This is a vocational course and it will focus on your employability, while giving you a high-quality academic experience. Importantly, the management and professional skills you will learn can also be applied in a range of business contexts outside of the aviation industry.
In your final year (Level 6) you will complete a dissertation – an independent research project on a topic related to aviation. This will allow you to explore an area of the business that you are particularly interested in, while demonstrating your research, writing, presentation and self-management skills.
Placement
If you choose to study full-time, you can opt to do a work placement after your second year (Level 5). You will have the opportunity to secure an aviation-industry work placement that will allow you to complete at least 40 hours per week (1,400 hours) over the course of the academic year. Using the theories you have studied in real-life scenarios will help to ground your knowledge and can enhance your employment prospects.
