About Advertising And Public Relations BA (hons) in University of West London

This advertising course is designed to prepare you for this exciting, fast-paced world of communications. It will help you to develop core skills in communications strategy, creative development, marketing analysis and digital media. 

The course has an entrepreneurial ethos, and you will be encouraged to learn through initiative, experimentation and teamwork. On any given day, you may start the morning discussing the psychology of advertising and end the day working with fellow students to make a video for a social media platform.

Based in London, you will have opportunities to take part in creative- and communications-industry events, visit London’s top agencies for employer insight, and find inspiration in the city’s many contemporary galleries. Furthermore, London's status as a global start-up hub can give you the chance to work with emerging companies and experiment with new technologies.

Hands-on experience will be vital to your learning. You will be able to work on live briefs from our industry partners, as well as both individual and group projects, and student competitions. From these experiences you will build a portfolio over the duration of the course, benefiting from staff guidance on how best to showcase your abilities. Our lecturers are experienced, award-winning practitioners who can give you unique insights.

This course is designed to provide you with a holistic view of marketing, advertising and PR, helping you to understand how the communications industry works as a whole. This well-rounded perspective will make you aware of the range of opportunities that exist for able graduates, including working with agencies, businesses, non-profits and public sector organisations.

You will hear from speakers from the Industry Advisory Board, which is made up of leaders from successful agencies and communications companies including Maria D’Souza, Content Partner (EMEA) at MEC, Tim Gibbon, Founder of Elemental Communications and creator of the Social Media Portal (SMP), and Alison Williams, Account Director - Premium Accounts at Gorkana.

You need to meet our English language requirement - a minimum of IELTS 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). 

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

•    International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma (From a minimum 25 points depending on course)
•    British/ International A Levels (From a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
•    Indian Standard 12/HSC (minimum average of 55% depending on exam board)
•    Second and final year entry on a bachelor's degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile
