About Adult Nursing Bnursing (hons) in University of West London

This exciting new course delivered from September 2019 will be approved against the new Nursing and Midwifery Council Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses (May 2018). These standards set out the knowledge and skills you as the next generation of adult nurses will learn, to enable you to deliver world class person-centred, evidence-based care.

This practical nursing course will give you the skills and experience you need to care for adults in a range of healthcare settings. With equal time spent on practice placement and in the classroom, you will graduate ready to find rewarding work as a nurse.

According to the Guardian University Guide 2019 UWL is ranked No. 1 in London and is in the top 17 universities in England for our nursing and midwifery courses.

Designed with input from students, service users and our partners in the NHS and voluntary and independent sectors, the course will prepare you for current nursing practice.

This course is offered at both our Ealing campus and Berkshire campus. As you will spend half your course gaining experience on placement, you should choose a course location that you can travel to easily. This course is based in London but we also offer BNursing (Hons) Adult Nursing in Berkshire.

Course detail & modules

On this new course you will learn how to deliver care to the high standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The aim is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to face the challenges of nursing in the twenty-first century.

You will learn how to:

  • provide, lead and coordinate care that is compassionate and evidence-based
  • care for people in healthcare settings including their own home, in the community and in hospital
  • help promote health, protect health and prevent ill health
  • empower people, communities and populations to take control of their own health decisions and behaviours
  • care for people of different ages, backgrounds, cultures and beliefs
  • care for people with complex mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural care needs
  • care for people at the end of their life
  • work across health- and social care services 
  • play a proactive role in multidisciplinary teams
  • think critically and apply your knowledge and skills
  • provide expert, evidence-based nursing care
  • be emotionally intelligent and resilient, while managing your personal health and wellbeing.

  • a minimum of IELTS 7.0 in Speaking, Reading and Listening and 6.5 in Writing, or
  • OET (Occupational English Test) grade B (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). Note that we can only accept results of tests taken from Feb 2016 onwards.
