About Media And Journalism BA (hons) in University of Sussex

You’ll explore how the media shape our social, political and cultural worlds, and find out about the role of journalism in contemporary societies. You’ll gain a range of journalistic skills across media platforms (audio, visual, online and print) as well as an understanding of relevant UK law.

When you graduate, you’ll have:

• a range of practical skills that you can apply in several different employment contexts
• a critical understanding of their relevance and importance.

Our facilities include a news studio, sound studios and editing labs, most of which offer 24/7 access.

Careers

You’ll have the chance to develop further real-world skills outside the classroom. You can write for our student newspaper, or present a programme on our television channel or radio station.

Guest speakers give you first-hand information about what a career in the industry is really like.

The skills you develop prepare you for a range of careers including advertising and marketing. You gain in-depth understanding of newspapers, magazines, radio, television, cinema, mobile and social media, so you’re prepared for your future career.

Academic qualification equivalents

• 80% from ISC Indian School certificate of Education (CISCE)  or 80% from SSC All India Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE)

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS          :          6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component
• TOEFL        :          88 overall, including at least 20 in Listening, 19 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, 23 in Writing.
• PTE             :           62 overall, including at least 56 in all four skills.
