Course description

Advance your career with our Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Competence. Our world-leading academics provide expertise in management and business acumen for engineers.

You'll develop your technical skills in engineering and apply your management skills to an engineering context, for example through case studies. This course develops your skills and knowledge in the broad areas of operations management, people and organisational behaviour, strategy and innovation.

The course has been designed to meet all the learning and regulation requirements of the Postgraduate Engineer Apprenticeship Standard. You'll have an additional six months after completing the postgraduate diploma to carry out the End Point Assessment (EPA).

Entry requirements

• A first degree in a relevant subject, for example BEng or MEng or a BSc in a STEM subject.

You'll also need to:

• be employed in a relevant job role with a contract of a minimum of 30 hours a week
• have agreement from your employer to fund your programme, either through government co-funding or the apprenticeship levy
• have the right to Abode in the UK

You must be ambitious and keen to expand your knowledge through rigorous discussion and learning. This course combines rigorous academic work with your own practical experience.

Candidates who don’t possess a first degree can be considered if they can demonstrate exceptional work experience.

English language requirements

Overall IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.
