About Molecular Genetics Msc in University of Leicester

The taught part of the degree is based on eight, week-long experiments that you undertake in a fully equipped laboratory dedicated to the Molecular Genetics MSc. These are not like experiments you may have done before in your degree studies; here you will perform sophisticated molecular analyses yourself from start to finish. You will receive expert guidance from academic staff throughout the experiments and they will also make you think about what you are doing and why you are doing it.

This part of the course is organised in two large modules which also include lectures and tutorials:

• Introduction to Techniques in Molecular Genetics and Data Analysis
• Experimental Design and Application of Molecular Genetic Techniques to Research

• IELTS : 7.0 overall including 6.5 in Writing and 5.5 in Reading, Listening and Speaking.

• PTE: 68 overall including 62 in Writing, and 51 in Reading, Listening and Speaking.

How to Apply?

The steps to be followed while applying for admission to the University of Leicester are as follows:

Application Fees: 25 GBP for applying through UCAS; Postgraduate application is free for almost all courses. Some postgraduate courses require an application fee.

Application Deadline: UG applicants: UCAS application deadline – June 30; Medicine and Dentistry programs – October 15; PG applicants – Varies according to program

Entry Requirements: The entry requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants must be fulfilled before applying:

• Undergraduate:
  • Completed the standard XII by the ICSE/CBSE, or another recognized state exam board, with at least 75% overall or higher depending on the course.
  • Undergraduate applicants with incomplete entry requirements can apply for an International Foundation Program which provides academic support to help applicants progress to his/her chosen undergraduate degree at the University.
• Postgraduate: A Bachelor's degree with a First class classification and an average of at least 60/75% (depending on the chosen course).
