Our adult nursing degree offers pre-registration training in this field. You will spend 50% of each year in a hospital or community setting alongside other health professionals learning how to care for patients with varying conditions.

Excellent links with the NHS and other care providers enable us to offer nursing placement opportunities in a variety of areas, from women's health and emergency departments to intensive care, operating theatres and outpatients.

Will I have a work placement?

At Avery Hill, we offer either a hospital or community route through the Adult Nursing programme in order for you to tailor your placement experience to your future career aspirations.

How long is my placement?

You will spend 50% of your time each year in these valuable work placements. Here you will learn the vital importance of communication and team work with other staff members.

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

Adult nursing is a challenging yet extremely rewarding career where you will work with a diverse range of acute and long-term illness in adults, in addition to promoting healthy lifestyles for all. 

Adult nurses play a prominent role in hospitals and communities as part of a multi-professional team. They care for patients and clients in a variety of hospital and primary care settings. These include acute medical and surgical wards, operating theatres, Emergency Departments, high-dependency environments, nursing homes and district nursing. During clinical placements, students promote health maintenance and restoration.

As an adult nurse, you may decide to work in a hospital or community setting. Alternatively, you may wish to specialise in an area such as intensive care, nursing homes or district nursing.
