About Theatre & Performance Practices Mlitt in University of Glasgow

This Masters engages with a range of theatre and performance practices, explored in a critically informed context. The programme encompasses practices such as contemporary devising and production dramaturgy, autobiographical performance, and socially/politically engaged practice. You will be encouraged to develop a reflective, rigorous and critically informed approach to theatre practice, with the intention of enriching and enhancing your creative work and furthering your career as a theatre/performance practitioner.

• A significant part of the programme is delivered by professional practitioners, ensuring the programme content is relevant and up to date with the latest developments in theatre and performance.

• Our facilities include a large flexible-seat theatre seating over 200 spectators as well as smaller studio spaces
• Glasgow is home to a huge variety of theatres that produce and show a range from the experimental and risky, to the traditional and repertory, from canonical and new writing, to devised and physical performance. World-leading venues include the Citizens’ Theatre, Tramway, Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) and the Glue Factory.

This programme is ideal for practitioners who want to develop their practice; graduates who are planning a career in theatre making; and those who want to look more in depth into aspects of theatre practice they have enjoyed and benefitted from through undergraduate studies. The programme also provides an excellent foundation for PhD study and an academic career.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements for postgraduate taught programmes are a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification (for example, GPA 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject unless otherwise specified.

For Theatre & Performance Practices we occasionally make exception to the 2.1 Honours degree requirement and are prepared to acknowledge appropriate skills and background in theatre and performance practices.

When applying for this programme, please include a personal statement (maximum 500 words) stating why you want to study this programme with the particular courses it offers.

For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training)

• 7.0 with no sub-test under 6.5.
• Tests must have been taken within 4 years 5 months of start date. Combined scores from two tests taken within 6 months of each other can be considered.

All stated English tests are acceptable for admission to this programme:

TOEFL (ib, my best or athome)

• 95 with minimum R 23, L 23, S 22, W 24.
• Tests must have been taken within 4 years 5 months of start date. Combined scores from two tests taken within 6 months of each other can be considered.

PTE (Academic)

• 60 with minimum 60 in all subtests.
• Tests must have been taken within 4 years 5 months of start date. Combined scores from two tests taken within 6 months of each other can be considered.
