About Software Engineering Bsc/msci in University of Glasgow

Software engineers develop and maintain large-scale complex software infrastructures. Our programme combines theoretical computing science with the principles and practices used in the modern software industry and gives you real world experience. You’ll become skilled in analysing work processes, envisioning complex system architectures, producing system specifications, and planning and overseeing complex development projects. 

Software engineering graduates are highly employable and can look forward to well-paid careers designing and building the digital technologies that underpin the global economy and, indeed, every aspect of human activity from healthcare through music to making the natural environment sustainable. 

• Our graduates are recognised by the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, and meet the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional (CITP)
• The School of Computing Science has been ranked first for overall student satisfaction in four of the last nine years in the National Student Survey. Courses are designed and taught by researchers who are leaders in their fields
• The School of Computing Science launched the pioneering Centre for Computing Science Education in 2017, in recognition of our commitment to leadership and innovation in educational practicez

• For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training)

• 6.5 with no sub-test under 6.0.
• Tests must have been taken within 4 years 5 months of start date. Combined scores from two tests taken within 6 months of each other can be considered.

TOEFL (ib, my best or athome)

• 90 with minimum R 20, L 19, S 19, W 23.
• Tests must have been taken within 4 years 5 months of start date. Combined scores from two tests taken within 6 months of each other can be considered.

PTE (Academic)

• 60 with minimum 59 in all sub-tests.
• Tests must have been taken within 4 years 5 months of start date. Combined scores from two tests taken within 6 months of each other can be considered.
