This course provides you with the professional accreditation required to undertake a career in social work or in one of the professions allied to social work. It combines theory with practice, with considerable engagement with service users and social work professionals, whose experiences and perspectives have contributed to the development of this highly regarded course.
Reflecting the multi-disciplinary context in which social work operates as a profession, the course is delivered within the School of Education and Social Work. You will gain a strong professional identity, enabling you to function competently and confidently in multi-disciplinary settings – and to strive for social justice, which is our overriding ethos.

You will work closely and innovatively with our Carers and Users group, which will provide you with crucial perspectives and experiences of service users and carers.

Our academic staff team are committed to sharing their practice and research expertise with students and facilitating each individual journey towards qualification. We have leading researchers in a broad range of areas including health and social care integration, disability, criminal justice and child protection. This expertise underpins the course content and the emphasis on the importance of research informed practice.

Academic qualification equivalents
Bachelor’s degree with 55% or above considered from University of Delhi, University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, IITs and IIMs (considered equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree)
Bachelor’s degree with 60% or above required from other institutions (considered equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree)
A Bachelor’s degree with 50% or above may be considered comparable to a UK 2.2 degree.
