If you are interested in how the brain works and would like to apply this knowledge to a future career, then you should consider Applied Neuroscience at the University of Dundee. We offer a range of modules to suit your background.
If you have limited knowledge of neuroscience, you will begin with the Foundation in Neuroscience module to develop an understanding of important concepts.
If you already have knowledge of the fundamentals of neuroscience, we offer the opportunity to explore specific topics in more detail and modules in marketing and/or psychology to enable the application of your knowledge to a future career.
Why study this course at Dundee?
Neuroscience is an important theme in Dundee, underpinned by research in learning and memory, neurodegeneration, psychiatric disorders, pain and anaesthesia. You will learn about these topics from our clinical and non-clinical neuroscientists.
You will also have the opportunity to combine these topics with aspects of psychology, business and/or marketing (taught by expert staff in these fields), allowing you to take your neuroscience knowledge in a different direction. This flexible approach will prepare you for a range of future careers.
What is so good about this course?
In the final semester, with guidance, you will design a laboratory or industrial research project. Your project will be completed during the final eight weeks either in Dundee or on placement in one of our commercial or not-for-profit partner organisations. Whether in a research lab, business or industrial setting your project will enable you to develop skills you can apply directly to a future career. Upon graduation you will be well placed to take advantage of numerous opportunities.
