About Nutrition And Exercise Sciences, Bsc (hons) in University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN)

This degree is one of only five courses in the UK to be endorsed by the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr). The course has been designed to provide you with an intellectually stimulating and vocationally relevant programme if you are interested in nutrition and exercise sciences as it relates to health. Sedentary lifestyles and poor nutrition can cause diseases that place an enormous burden on the individual and society as a whole. The importance of achieving and maintaining a good level of health and nutrient intake is receiving greater recognition from employers, the government and the general public.

Graduates who have a detailed understanding of the pathophysiology of chronic disease can provide effective recommendations to prevent/delay the onset of disease with exercise and nutritional intervention programmes. BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Exercise Sciences equips you with the knowledge and skills required for promoting the health of the general public, clients with risk factors or patients who already suffer from a disease.

This is a truly multi-disciplinary course, taught by specialists in each field. The provision of two strands aligned to professional accreditation bodies such as the Association for Nutrition and the Register of Exercise Professionals allows you to specialise in nutrition and food science or health and fitness.

• Our state-of-the-art laboratories house a wide variety of equipment including specialist nutrition and food chemistry equipment to aid teaching and research.
• The course is aligned to knowledge, skills and competencies set by professional bodies such as the Register of Exercise Professionals, the Association for Nutrition and the Sport & Exercise Nutrition Register.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with professional sports clubs and athletes. You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake work experience or research opportunities as well as study abroad during year 2 via student exchange programmes.
