This degree aims to help students develop professional skills in English across a wide range of business-related domains and will be of interest for anyone wishing to work or has already worked in communication-oriented careers related to international business and management. It will prepare students for any career or field of postgraduate study requiring a mixture of business knowledge, high-level English language skills and cultural awareness, e.g. public relations, marketing and advertising. The distinctiveness and strengths of the course lie in the emphasis on the application of intercultural and communication theories to work-related contexts through a programme of compulsory modules and optional pathways.
The School’s quality stamp in English language provision is officially accredited by the British Council. We are also a provider of the Certificate in International Business English Training, accredited by Trinity College London and English UK professional bodies.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND ASSESSMENT
A 3 year degree qualification typically comprises 360 credits and each 20 credit (a standard module) equates to 200 hours of study, which comprises of a mixture of lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical sessions and independent study. Independent study is an important aspect of your degree course. The exact combination of study time will be detailed within your module descriptors, and will depend on your option choices.
The course is delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars and tutorials. Students work independently on projects inside and outside the classroom. Class contact time will vary between 12 and 20 hours per week. However a student is expected to commit to substantial study outside the classroom, bringing total study time to thirty five hours per week. Class size is between 20 and 25 students.
The course is assessed through a mixture of assignments such as reports and essays, group work projects, presentations, simulations, portfolios and tests.
