About Bsc Biomedical Sciences (2-year Degree) in University of Buckingham

The BSc Biomedical Sciences is a unique 2-year programme taught on the Crewe campus awarding graduates of this course a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences degree.

Biomedical science focuses on how cells, organs and metabolic systems function in the human body. Through this understanding of health and disease processes, new treatments and therapies can be created or developed, contributing to necessary advances toward solving significant health problems facing today’s society

• Our teaching strategy promotes student centred learning with a focus on small tutorials and workshops rather than large lecture based programmes.
• If wishing to study medicine students who are predicted, or achieve, a 2.1 will be eligible to make an application to the University of Buckingham MB ChB Selection Process (need a link here to medical school entry requirements and selection).
• Our Programme costs the same in tuition fees as a traditional 3 year BSc. Programme. In fact on average there is a saving of around £12000 living costs when studying an accelerated programme.
• We believe our graduates are better prepared for further study. Students who can complete a 3 year course in just 2 years may appeal to universities when applying for intensive courses such as medicine, dentistry or postgraduate study.
• When in employment, employees do not get a long summer break and neither do our students. This informs prospective employers that our graduates are already accustomed to the demands of the workplace which enables our graduates stand out from the crowd.

Academic qualification equivalents

• Higher Secondary Certificate / Standard 12 (awarded on completion of Grade 12) with two subjects at 65% and two subjects at 75% or better is required
• English and Maths are the compulsory subjects

English language requirements 

• IELTS :  Average of 6.5 (with 6.0 or above in each component)
• TOEFL: 87 (minimum component scores of Listening 21, Reading 22, Speaking 23, Writing 21). Accepted for Undergraduate level courses or above.
• PTE: 59-65 (with 4 minimum component scores of 59)
