About Software Engineering Beng (hons) in Ulster University

The Software Engineering course offers a broadly-based education in computing science with an emphasis on the principles and practices of software development.

You will be equipped with the skills necessary to work in the software industry or a commercial IT department with the assurance of an advanced knowledge of supporting software engineering techniques.

You will study the theory and principles of programming and software development and put them in practice using a variety of contemporary programming languages and tools.

You will develop programming expertise in a variety of languages, for example, Python and Java and examine areas such as Database Systems, Computer Technologies, Computer Networks, Systems Security, Full Stack Strategies and Development, Algorithms and Data Structures, Software Reliability Engineering and Software Engineering Management.

Given the variety of computing applications in the Software Engineering field, there are a number of jobs that will be accessible for a Software Engineering graduate such as Software Developer, Database Engineer, Reliability Engineering and Security Specialist.

Academic qualification equivalents

• Students who have successfully completed Standard XII examinations will be considered for entry onto our undergraduate degrees across the full disciplinary spectrum.

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS :6.0 overall including 5.5 in all elements
• TOEFL IBT: 80 overall including R=18, L=17, S=20, W=17
• PTE: 56 R, L, S, W = 51
