About BA (honours) Multimedia Journalism in Sheffield Hallam University

• Create your own TV broadcasts, radio programmes and podcasts in our industry-standard studios.

On this course you will learn to practice journalism across a variety of media platforms. You'll engage with broadcast, online and print journalism, making you a well-rounded and polished graduate ready to enter this exciting industry.

Field trips

We have students working at Sheffield Doc/Fest – one of the top three documentary film festivals in the world – attending exclusive workshops with international industry experts.

Our annual Creative Industries Pathway event brings you face-to-face with leading figures across the media industry, while our annual Grad Talk connects you with recent journalism, media and PR graduates who can pass on invaluable tips about how to progress from university to career.

Networking opportunities

We have a lively guest lecture programme, where our contacts across the media give one-off talks. It's been described as one of the best in the country by the magazine industry body the Professional Publishers Association. Recent guest lecturers have come from online and print magazines, radio and television newsrooms, local and national newspapers, PR companies and marketing agencies.

Future careers

The entire course, in terms of both content and approach, is geared towards producing employable professionals within the vibrant national and international creative media industry.

Recent graduates from the course are now working

• as feature writers at magazines including Closer, Which? and Gay Times, as well as at a variety of B2B (business to business) magazines
• for broadcasters including BBC World Service, BBC local radio, ITV, Liverpool FC TV, Sky and TalkSport

Undergraduate programmes

Applicants with the following qualifications from India will be considered for entry on to undergraduate programmes

• Standard XII with an average score of 65 per cent
• A levels
• International Baccalaureate
• HND qualifications will be considered for entry to the second or third year of a relevant undergraduate degree

• Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at an Indian university may be considered for direct entry to Sheffield Hallam University undergraduate programmes.

  Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from international school students taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma and those achieving 28 points or more will usually be successful in obtaining an offer of a place on our undergraduate programmes.
