About Violence, Terrorism And Security MA in Queen's University Belfast

The study of Violence, Terrorism and Security has long been an important arena of academic research and debate. The rise of groups like ISIS in Iraq and Syria and the legacies of 9/11 and al-Qaeda has now brought the subject to the forefront of academic, policymaking, media and popular debates. Questions over the nature, evolution, causes, and normative justifications of violence, terrorism and security are now an embedded aspect of public discourse. This MA programme provides dynamic and interdisciplinary analysis into fields of conflict studies and theories and concepts on violence, terrorism studies and international security. The MA helps students develop a critical and analytical approach to problems in history and the contemporary world in these three core areas. It challenges accepted wisdom and opens up the debate about the role of violence in relation to political power in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

•  IELTS: 7.0 with minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
• TOEFL iBT : 95 with minimum marks as follows: Listening - 17,Reading - 18,Speaking - 20
  Writing - 17
• PTE: 67 overall  with minimum of 51 in each component
