About Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in Queen's University Belfast
With over 900 biotech companies in the UK employing nearly 26,000 people, pharmaceutical biotechnology is an increasingly important area for pharma. It provides the biotechnological tools and techniques to enable the discovery, development and evolution of novel therapeutics and innovative drug delivery systems. Indeed, many of the UK’s biotech companies originate from universities as ‘spin-outs’, focused on the development of cutting edge technologies and innovative products. The BSc in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is designed to create students who have broad analytical and practical experience focussed on recent developments in the field, as well as strong professional and inter-disciplinary skills to prepare them for careers within the sector.
Academic qualification equivalents
- The Standard Indian XII (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards of Higher Secondary Education are acceptable for admission to our Bachelor degree programmes.
An average mark of 70 - 85% or higher (best of 5 academic subjects) in the Standard Indian XII Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards (CBSE, CISCE) or a state board, or equivalent, with 75% or higher where subject requirements are stipulated (comparable with Grade B at A Level).
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: 6.5 minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
- TOEFL iBT : 90 with minimum marks as follows: Listening - 17,Reading - 18,Speaking - 20,Writing - 17
- PTE: 62 overall with minimum of 51 in each component
