About Human Biology Bsc in Queen's University Belfast

Human Biology is the integrated study of human anatomy and physiology, including the study of the body in health and disease. It covers a wide range of topics, ranging from genetics, microbiology and immunology to the core disciplines of anatomy, microanatomy and physiology.

The degree is designed to allow a greater degree of flexibility in the choice of modules, in comparison to the closely related degree in Biomedical Sciences.

Specialist subject areas which can be studied in detail include Pharmacology, Topographical Anatomy, Exercise and Applied Physiology, Developmental Studies, Embryology, Neuroscience and Science Communication. Within these subject areas we provide a wide and innovative range of learning experiences, such as the use of ultrasound imaging in cardiovascular physiology and exposure to cadaveric dissection.

​​​​​​Academic qualification equivalents

• The Standard Indian XII (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards of Higher Secondary Education are acceptable for admission to our Bachelor degree programmes.

An average mark of 70 - 85% or higher (best of 5 academic subjects) in the Standard Indian XII Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards (CBSE, CISCE) or a state board, or equivalent, with 75% or higher where subject requirements are stipulated (comparable with Grade B at A Level).

English language requirements (one of the below):

•  IELTS: 6.5 minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
• TOEFL iBT : 90 with minimum marks as follows:  Listening - 17,Reading - 18,Speaking - 20,Writing - 17
• PTE: 62 overall with minimum of 51 in each component
