Develop the skills to prepare you for a career working with new and future technologies. There is a strong demand for computer science graduates and this course will equip you with the knowledge and expertise to fill this skills gap.
The Government have committed to developing a skilled workforce in the influential STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. This course aligns with the key themes of these subject areas and will provide you with the skills to solve computer programming problems in a range of industries.
You will develop an understanding of how computer systems work, the problems that can arise and the implications of what companies are developing. The course will enhance your teamworking and project management abilities, while honing your expertise in emerging technologies.

You will have direct access to the Avaya Breeze, Avaya Aura and Avaya Equinox platforms as you explore the real-time optimisation of new middleware. This facility forms the company’s regional base, meaning you will be part of a community that includes potential employers who use Avaya’s products, enabling you to start building your professional network while you study.
Course Benefits
You will have the opportunity to undertake a paid placement after your second year. This placement (subject to availability) will allow you to develop your practical skills, giving you hands-on experience to add to your CV.
That hands-on experience will also be at the heart of your learning. We have strong contacts with industry and our teaching team will use their research and industrial experience to ensure the course is current and reflective of the latest trends in computer science engineering.
Practical assessments such as demonstrations, group projects, reports and presentations will help you link the theory you are learning to industry practice, preparing you for life in the workplace. You will also be able showcase your projects and network with experts from industry at our annual showcase event.
