Description

This MSc is designed to give you the knowledge you need to begin a rewarding career as an adult nurse, whatever your background. But you’ll need to have some healthcare related experience to join us.

Half of your time will be spent gaining practical experience on placements. The other half will be learning from our experts to understand theoretical areas, including care delivery, research principles and clinical leadership.

Course purpose

The overall aims of the programme are to enable graduates to acquire advanced understanding, knowledge and skills in nursing in order that they may deliver, develop, lead and research healthcare practice. In addition, the programme aims to ensure that nurses who graduate are skilled, competent and compassionate professionals who have satisfied the academic and clinical requirements and standards stipulated in the NMC standards of proficiency and the academic requirements of King's College London for the award of a Masters degree.

Career prospects

King’s students have plenty of opportunities to add to their CVs. Some of our students achieve the role of a ‘champion’, promoting the area of the trust they’re working in. Extra responsibilities like this make your passion and commitment shine through.

After just two years, you’ll be ready to start your career as an adult nurse. Many King’s graduates secure positions in the NHS trusts where they completed their placements.

Or, if you want to achieve your Master’s, you can complete a nursing dissertation. You have five years to do this after you graduate, so it’s up to you whether you do it straight away or alongside your employment.

With King’s on your CV and whole host of transferable skills, your degree could take you anywhere – whether that’s elsewhere in the UK or working somewhere on the other side of the world.
