The UK Government has announced that nursing, midwifery and many allied health students will benefit from guaranteed, additional support of at least £5,000 a year. The funding will be available from next year and will not have to be repaid.
Working as a children’s nurse, no two days are ever the same. At King’s, we equip you with the skills you need to deliver excellent care to children, young people and their families, build relationships, and understand how to use research.
Key benefits
Description
Whether it’s decision making or medication management, we cover the topics you’ll depend on every day caring for children, young people and their families.
We put your skills to the test during your placements with your host trust. Our wide-spread placement options mean you’ll treat a diverse range of children and families in trusts, nurseries and children’s services across London.
At King’s, you’ll be part of a community of people from across the globe. Just like you, everyone on the course has decided to change career paths or start a new phase of their life, so you’ll meet people from a range of backgrounds.
Teaching
Our lecturers feed their latest research findings into teaching to keep you up to date with new thinking in the fast-paced world of healthcare.
To become a confident children’s nurse, you need to learn how to handle difficult situations, think on your feet and quickly build relationships. We continually challenge you with different activities, whether it’s evaluating a new policy, or doing a simulation involving realistic mannequins and parents played by actors.
Career prospects
Many of our graduates make the most of their connections in London and secure rewarding roles at NHS trusts here. Of course, we also have alumni elsewhere in the UK and around the world.
The education that prepares our graduates for life as a children’s nurse means they can apply their skills to work in other areas, like community care. Others have become successful in teaching, management or research.
