Explore theories behind neuroscience, compare real human brains from our brain bank and develop the professional skills you need for your career.
On this course, we’ll cover the key areas of psychiatry, psychology, neuroscience and neurology. Then you’ll delve deeper into the area that interests you and carry out research with leading experts in the field.
Key benefits
Please note that the two year part-time programme runs on alternate years. The next intake will be September 2020.
Teaching
You’ll never have to rely on a textbook at King’s. All of our teaching team carry out their own research, so you’ll always be up to speed with the latest thinking in the field.
One day, you might be listening to someone who has recently given a TED talk on a ground-breaking topic. Another day, you might be listening to an academic who has just published a paper in a leading journal.
We focus on developing your practical skills too. For example, you’ll examine human brains from our Brain Bank, comparing healthy and unhealthy examples.
Description
Studied psychology, biomedical background, or just interested in the inner workings of the brain? This course is for anyone who wants to make ground-breaking discoveries in the field and develop practical skills for their future.
At King’s, you’ll use cutting-edge facilities, work with leading researchers to solve complex challenges and be the first to hear about findings from our research centres.
You’ll complete three core modules. Then pick a module that interests you (there’s around four to choose from) and apply your skills to a 20 week research project.
If your research project is in the same subject area as your specialised module, you can graduate with an MSc Neuroscience in that speciality.
Career prospects
You’ll graduate with specialised knowledge in a broad range of neuroscience topics. But you’ll also be prepared to deal with challenging situations in a broad range of sectors too.
Many international students return to their home country to apply their skills to a career in neuroscience. Other graduates build careers in the UK working within research, scientific writing, clinical settings, and more.
