About Msc Molecular Biology And Pathology Of Viruses in Imperial College London

You will engage with experts from many areas of virology and molecular biology in a wide range of topics.

These areas have seen recent major advances in the understanding of the structure of viruses, molecular mechanisms of virus replication, virus disease pathogenesis, the emergence of novel viruses and the diseases threats that they pose.

This course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in academic or industrial research, providing a solid foundation to go on to study at PhD level.

By the end of the programme, you will develop the ability to critically evaluate the scientific literature. You will enhance your written and oral communication skills and the and the ability to present scientific ideas.

You will acquire proficiency in a range of important research techniques during the Mini-Research project and will build on these in the 6-month research project.

Under the supervision and guidance of senior academics, you will investigate an important research problem. You will choose your subject from those be available in one of the laboratories in Imperial College or an associated external institution.

Academic qualification equivalents

•  To be considered for admission to a Master's e.g. MSc, MRes, MBA etc, applicants should normally have completed a three to four year Bachelor's degree from a mainstream university (state/federal or ‘deemed' institution) passed with a required grades.

  Applicants for research should hold a three to four year Bachelor's degree and Master's degree, both passed with required grades. Integrated Master's degrees with required grades will also qualify an applicant for entry to Research.

  Applicants from elite institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average of 7 / 10 or 60%. These are the College minimum scores and particular departments may seek grades at a higher level.

  Applicants from other approved institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average ranging from 7.5-8 / 10 or 65-70%. These are the College minimum range of required scores and particular departments may seek grades at a higher level.

English language requirements 

• IELTS : 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 in all elements)
• TOEFL IBT: 92 overall (minimum 20 in all elements)
• PTE : 62 overall (minimum 56 in all elements)
