As a fascinating and complex expression of contemporary society, tourism has experienced continued growth and diversification to become one of the fastest growing economic sectors. Yet this growth is one which must be properly managed, in order to ensure positive socio- economic, cultural and environmental impacts, where new tourism services and markets are developed in a responsible and sustainable manner.
This final year course, aimed at students from outside the UK, enables you to top-up your existing qualification to a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree and incorporates the advanced study of business English. Studied full-time over one year, this course aims to develop the managerial skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in this fast changing and challenging industry.

Course information
This course will provide you with a comprehensive knowledge and up-to-date perspective on how tourism is managed in an international context.
The fascinating complexity of the international tourism sector requires trained professionals, who are creative, sensitive and attentive to the world around them, with an ability to manage global networks and to promptly recognize and manage business environment opportunistic and threatening risks.
You will explore a wide variety of issues and challenges faced by managers in the tourism sector. Teaching is grounded in reflecting on contemporary tourism events and the latest research, together with sharing experiences from local, national and international contexts. These issues can range from exploring sustainable development, international travel and global security, or how the tourism and hospitality sectors are being changed by new technologies. To further enhance the teaching and learning experience, we look to develop various links and partnerships with international institutions and practitioners from all around the world, to help support various problem based and simulator exercises.
Career prospects
The rising economic influence of middle-income economies and previously less developed countries all point to a future in which tourism is set to increase, however tourism needs to be managed responsibly and professionally.
The in-depth knowledge, critical evaluation and analysis skills developed on the course are designed to prepare graduates for management positions much demanded by the international tourism industry.
You will have the support of dedicated Personal Employment Tutors. The employment unit can also support you with workshops and guidance on the various aspects of the employment process such as preparing your CV, interview practice and mock assessment centres.

Employers can include tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, cruises, tourist attractions, heritage sites, conference organisers and hoteliers.
