The course is focused on bridging the gap between computer science and non-computing graduates who have worked in the IT sector.

It aims to provide a deliberate blend of foundations in business, IT project management and the core principles in computing disciplines such as database management, enterprise systems and software engineering.

We use our professional links with local, national and multinational companies, to stay in tune with the global developments in the industry. For example, the IT Manager of M&S worldwide was instrumental in us updating our project management training to incorporate agile software development, which acknowledges that requirements and solutions often evolve during projects.

We aim to equip you with the specialist skills and knowledge that will enable you to adopt a professional approach to the planning, design and management of complex networked and distributed computer systems. We aim to develop your analytical and communication skills, encouraging you to find and present solutions both individually and working as a group to address existing and emerging issues in the industry, this could include anything from developing databases to writing IT Strategies.

The course is designed to help prepare you for careers in the management of IT systems within a business.

Where our graduates work

Our Master’s provides a route into many careers incorporating IT management and software development; many of our graduates have gone on to work as IT Managers and project managers. 

To enter the course you need to have one of the following:

• A good honours degree or an equivalent qualification.
• A relevant professional qualification of equivalent standard e.g. BCS Professional Graduate Diploma, CEng, CIM Diploma.
• A lower qualification plus appropriate and relevant experience at a professional level.

English as a Foreign Language: This course requires IELTS 6.5 overall. Pre-Sessional English is available if required.
