About Fashion Design - BA (hons) in Anglia Ruskin University

Overview

Develop your own fashion designs from Year 1, with a focus on either menswear or womenswear, on our full-time Fashion Design degree at Cambridge School of Art. Choose to study abroad for one semester in the Netherlands, and get support to find placements and work experience. Graduate with a portfolio and final collection ready to take into a career in the fashion industry.

Careers

Our BA (Hons) Fashion Design will help you develop your own individual style as a fashion designer, with a portfolio ready to present to fashion houses. Or, if you’re a budding entrepreneur, you can explore the prospect of starting your own business, with modules that allow you to create your own business plan.

You will also develop skills and knowledge useful for many other roles in the fashion industry, including styling, buying, pattern cutting and trend forecasting.

We work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they need. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – and they offer hands-on, practical opportunities to learn through work-based projects, internships or placements.

Companies including French Connection, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Laura Ashley have recently offered internships and work opportunities to our students.

Academic qualification equivalents

• HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 50% from the West Bengal exam board
• HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 55% from the following exam boards: CBSE, Delhi, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu
• HSC/Standard 12 with an overall average of 60% with at least 40% in a minimum of 5 subjects from any other exam board
• a recognised foundation qualification

English language requirements

If English is not your first language you'll need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

• Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
• ETS TOEFL iBT with 80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
• Pearson PTE with 57 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components.
