Research in the department is motivated by the needs of industry, business and government; we actively look for opportunities for technology transfer. An important aspect of this is that our research work must be reflected in our teaching. We believe that collaboration in research is essential and we collaborate with industry, with government, and with other academic institutions, on a national and international level. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) assessment, it was found that 100% of the research impact was assessed as world-leading or internationally excellent!

We also have considerably and widely recognised expertise in Software Engineering and Network Technology, Industrial collaborators include Ford, Jaguar Cars, Unilever, Daimler Benz, Integral Solutions Ltd., Costain and Glaxo

Academic qualification equivalents:

• We normally accept a minimum of 55% or GCPA 6.0 in a relevant Master degree from a recognised institution. Non-graduates with at least 2 years of relevant full-time work experience are welcome to apply. In this case your application will be assessed on an individual basis.

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS          :         6.5 with minimum 5.5 in each component 
• TOEFL         :         93 with minimum component scores:Reading 18, Listening 17, Speaking 20, Writing 17.
• PTE             :          62 with minimum scores of 51 in each component
