About BA (hons) In Tourism Marketing in Waterford Institute of Technology

The three year BA (Hons) in Tourism Marketing is designed to provide learners with the theoretical and practical skills necessary for a successful career in a number of sectors within the wider travel and tourism industry. The structure of the course and the modules undertaken at each year are designed to develop necessary managerial and marketing abilities.

Special Features of BA (Hons) in Tourism Marketing:

• Hospitality Placement

Students undertake a Professional Practice module in Year Two in preparation for a period of tourism placement during the summer between years two and three. This experience will provide the learner with the opportunity to apply theory to a practical context and help the student to finalise future career plans. The placement can be taken in Ireland or internationally.

Successful graduates of BA (Hons) in Tourism Marketing are likely to find employment in marketing or management positions in the following areas:

• Visitor facilities, attractions and heritage centres

• Public and non-profit making organisations  including government organisations, Regional  Tourist Authorities, community groups and tourism co-operatives

• Inbound and outbound tour operations

• Transport industry

•  Hospitality industry and in the major group marketing agencies for the hospitality industry

• Travel agency sector

• Self-employment in small and medium tourism enterprises

Academic qualification equivalents

• Completion of All India or State Board HSC (XII): 60% or higher in relevant subjects.

English language requirements (one of the below):

Engineering, Health Sciences & Science

• IELTS: 5.5 IELTS(minimum of 5 IELTS in each component)
• TOEFL: iBT 70 (min score of 15 in each  component) CBT 196 (min score of 15 in each component)
• PTE: 51 (minimum 46 in each component)

Business, Education & Humanities

• IELTS: 6.0 IELTS (minimum of 5 IELTS in each component)
• TOEFL: iBT 80 (min score of 15 in each component) CBT 213 (min score of 15 in each component)
• PTE: 55 (minimum 46 in each component)

Note: The international tuition fee will be refunded in full, in case the students don’t get their visa but the students need to show documentary evidence of the refusal to the international office.

These apartments are based on the Main Campus and give easy access to all WIT services and facilities to the students. The students need to deposit Euro 300 for booking room which is refundable towards the end of the license period.
