About Property Valuation & Management – Bsc (honours) in Limerick Institute of Technology

What is the programme about?

This is a four year sandwich honours degree programme incorporating three academic years and one full year of industrial work placement in third year. The aim of the programme is to develop a property professional who possesses the knowledge, skills and competencies required to work in the diverse sectors of the property industry such as valuation, estate agency, marketing, property management, investment, development, corporate real estate, research and land-use planning. The programme offers a business based qualification and covers residential, commercial, agricultural and specialist property. It is fully accredited by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) and has international recognition through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The programme meets the minimum educational requirements required to work as a property services provider under the Property Services (Regulation) Act 2011.

Who is the programme suited to?

In general, the programme is suited to individuals who are looking for a career that involves the following: working on one’s own initiative and working in teams, meeting people and interacting with the general public and other professionals, negotiating, working with IT, making presentations and writing professional reports, co-ordinating different projects at one time and solving problems. A career in surveying can offer variety – no two days are the same, high earning potential, opportunities to travel and work abroad and a global qualification – a careers passport.
