What is the programme about?
On the B.Sc. (Honours) in Digital Animation Production, students learn to design, create and animate for both 2D and 3D digital animation platforms such as TV, Film and Games. There is a focus on developing the learners core skills in the traditional disciplines of drawing, illustration and design with a strong emphasis on the principles of animation. Building on this foundation, learners continue to develop their creative voice while training in industry standard software, processes and technologies with the aim of bringing their ideas and concepts to life on screen.
This programme is a unique Bachelor of Science Honours Degree offering, blending traditional art practices with creative technologies to produce the future of animation talent in Ireland and abroad.
Digital Animation Production is focused on the many roles required to produce professional digital animation content with graduates seeking employment in a variety of roles from designers to animators to more technical roles such as riggers and technical artists.

The programme is suited to individuals with an artistic ability who wish to produce high quality digital animation by combining their artistic creativity with technical know-how. Emphasis is placed on the needs of animation studio production, with the programme aiding and developing individuals to fulfil both generalist and specialist roles in such organisations.

Graduate Profile
Digital Animation Production graduate, Jodi Henry, whose short film 'Let's be Friends' won the prestigious Best Music/Sound Design category at Animation Dingle Film Festival 2017. Jodi completed the Digital Animation Production Degree at LIT Clonmel and her animated short was her final year project. As well as the major award, Jodi was also nominated for the Best Irish Student Animation Award.
Further Studies
Students who successfully complete the BSc (Honours) in Digital Animation Production will be eligible for a wide range of taught and research Level 9 Masters programmes in Ireland and abroad.
Entry Requirement
Leaving Certificate (2018):
The minimum entry requirements for standard entrance are a minimum of 2 H5 & 4 O6/H7 grades in six Leaving Certificate subjects, including Mathematics and English or Irish. Applicants must also present of a portfolio of selected work for assessment.
FETA Applicants:
The following entry arrangements will apply to graduates of QQI FETA (Formerly FETAC) programmes seeking admission to programmes at Institutes of Technology. The minimum entry requirement for graduates of FETAC (NCVA level 5 or 6) awards to Higher Certificate (QQI level 6) programmes is a full QQI FETAC (level 5 or 6) award including a distinction grade in at least three modules. Applicants must also present a portfolio of selected work for assessment.
Awarded Points for entry are based a combination of Leaving Certificate/FETA QQI results and Portfolio Assessment results.
