The aim of the four-year BSc (Hons) in General Nursing course is to prepare general nursing students to become competent, knowledgeable and accountable nurses who can provide holistic, evidence-based care for service users in a variety of health care settings. Learning takes place in the classroom, Clinical Skills Laboratory and in a variety of clinical practice settings throughout the Dublin and North East region.
Course Description
The aim of the BSc (Hons) in General Nursing course is to prepare students to meet the Standards and Requirements of Pre-Registration Nurse Education for General Nursing (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, 2016). On successful completion of this course the student is eligible to register with NMBI as a General Nurse (RGN) and is awarded a BSc. In General Nursing.
This four-year full-time degree course is offered in partnership with health service providers (HSPs) from both the public and private healthcare sectors. If you are interested in an exciting career in dynamic evolving healthcare environments, helping others with healthcare needs, have good communication skills and like being part of a team then General Nursing might be the career for you.
Throughout the curriculum innovative learning experiences and teaching strategies are used to promote the attainment of graduate skills such as critical analysis, problem-solving, teamwork, decision making and interpersonal skills. The curriculum is responsive to the changing needs of service users and to changes in knowledge and evidence for practice and health care delivery.
