A pharmacy technician plays a central role in the smooth operation of today’s pharmacy, by supporting and assisting the pharmacist in their various activities. Pharmacy technicians are employed in both the private sector in community and private hospital pharmacies and by the HSE in hospital pharmacies.

Work opportunities exist in community and hospital pharmacies, wholesale division, pharmaceutical industry, sale and marketing, IT training, management, purchasing roles and many more. The qualification can lead to many opportunities to diversify. A number of graduates of this programme have been successful in entering pharmacy degrees (MPharm) in the Ireland (UCC & RCSI) & UK (Coleraine, Brighton, Kingston, Liverpool & Sunderland).

Academic qualification equivalents

• Equivalent of Honours Bachelor Degree from a recognised University in a discipline relevant to the postgraduate degree sought with minimum average of 60% in final year examinations. Please check Bachelor degree classification for entry to certain postgraduate programmes.

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS: Minimum. IELTS Band 6.0 – 6.5 or equivalent English examination (Depending on programme). Kindly refer to individual programme requirements.
• TOEFL:Minimum iBT 60 – 93. (Depending on programme). Kindly refer to individual programme requirements.
• PTE:55 (minimum 51 in each component)

Tuition Fees for non-European Union students range from €8,000 to €14,000 and are payable for each year of study at the Institute.
