Studied social work
Everyone has the right to participate in social life.
That is a principle of social work. The SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg has stood for this principle with its recognized network of practice and science since 1969.
Solidarity is lived, reflected and promoted academically. We train social workers taking into account their individual skills in a course in which personal contact and the individual count.
Contents, goals and course of study
A professional attitude: your equipment for practice and science.
The professional requirements for social work are so diverse that they cannot be mastered with theoretical knowledge alone. At SRH Heidelberg University you will therefore be supported in developing a professional attitude. When dealing with concrete practical examples, you not only acquire skills. They are critical of how social inequality arises and learn to position themselves on it. You expand your personal skills with specific intervention strategies and methods of political influence.
Our frame of reference is the newer social work science, foundations of law, psychology, pedagogy, sociology and social policy. In learning arrangements and practical simulations, you acquire key qualifications that you equip for various areas of practice or research. The teaching staff accompanies you with your own objectives and along your personal needs.
Objectives of the course:
They understand social and political processes that lead to the temporary loss of human power to act, social inequality, disadvantage or exclusion.
They understand how social groups or individual people deal with this reality and try to cope with it.
They reflect how theory, science, networking in practice, methods of social work and political strategies can contribute to changing the above-mentioned conditions.
