Contents, goals and course of study
Consultant, IT system developer, analyst, navigator, communicator ...
all of these are roles that you can assume as a business IT specialist in a company.
The business informatics course, as an interface science between business and computer science, is based on these roles in its curricular structure: With its three main areas of computer science, consulting and data science , we support competence- oriented specialization in a variety of occupational fields.
Competence-oriented studies
Basically, the aim of the business informatics course is to prepare students for the job market , which is characterized by rapid technological change. Graduates are able to identify technology potential , evaluate it and actively help shape changes. Particular emphasis is placed on problem-solving skills, methodological skills for project management and communication skills .
For example, design thinking has been firmly anchored in our curriculum since 2013 , and individual modules are built entirely according to design thinking. Design thinking stands for a creative and innovative method that contributes to the development of solutions to business problems . In companies, employees from different departments work together in a creative environment. Areas such as observation, understanding, brainstorming, refinement and early prototyping are effectively combined here. Design Thinking's motto: "fail early, fail often, fail cheap."
Study as an alternative to dual studies
In addition to the theoretical basics of a WI course, you complete a four-month mandatory internship in a company of your choice, which can be extended to up to 6 months . You also prefer to write your bachelor's thesis in cooperation with a company of your choice. In addition, you are already working with real customers in project-related modules . In total, you will have up to almost 12 months of professional experience in addition to studying and with different companies and different corporate cultures.
