About Embedded Systems Engineering Design in Lambton College

There is a strong need in today’s workplace for advanced skills related to design and development of software and electronic hardware solutions for embedded electronic systems.

In this two-year, four-term Embedded Systems Engineering Design Ontario College Graduate Certificate program, students integrate previous theoretical knowledge in areas such as electronics, information science, computer science, software science and communication science or other related fields into hands-on education necessary to prepare graduates for in-demand careers in embedded systems development.

Embedded Systems Engineering Design delivers a unique, interdisciplinary learning experience in embedded systems engineering fundamentals, design concepts and integration of modern communication principles with industrial and portable electronic devices. This program provides an in-depth understanding of the complex challenges of modern industrial and business operations in the field of embedded devices and systems.

Program curriculum prepares students with the core competencies required to progress to the advanced, practical courses on embedded systems development, and the final term will enhance all learning outcomes through a research project. Working in a variety of embedded hardware and software roles or as project managers or entrepreneurs, graduates will learn the skills needed for many exciting careers.

Employment Opportunities

Career positions may include, but are not limited to, embedded software engineers, software designers, telecommunications software engineers, systems integration engineers, firmware engineers, embedded designers and firmware testing engineers.
