About Construction Project Management in Fanshawe College

Solid construction projects need solid managers. The modern construction industry requires managers that have a diverse set of skills. If you see yourself leading and coordinating construction projects from their start to finish, Fanshawe's Construction Project Management program will provide the skills needed to navigate the modern and dynamic construction industry.

You'll begin the program by focusing on the knowledge and skills required to advance to a management position. You'll study and apply the theories and practices of modern construction management in residential, industrial, commercial and institutional (I.C.I.) construction projects, while working alongside and coordinating with a variety of other trades/professions. Today's complex construction industry requires professional managers who can function successfully in multidisciplinary teams consisting of project managers, architects, engineers, regulators, environmental consultants, urban planners, and contractors. Managers also require a comprehensive understanding of sustainable building practices, and a deep and broad technical background in the construction industry.
Graduates are prepared to manage all phases and aspects of the construction process effectively and to deal with a wide variety of situations and issues that may emerge on a construction job site.
Graduates may find employment in a variety of construction project management positions including, but not restricted to: project coordinators, construction coordinators, project managers, construction managers, construction estimators, site superintendents, and site engineers. This program will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required for increasing levels of responsibilities in the completion of medium and large scale construction projects.

Academic qualification equivalents

  • A College Diploma, or College Advanced Diploma, or College Graduate Certificate or bachelor's degree.

English language requirements (one of the below):

IELTS: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test with an overall score of 5.5  - 7.0 with no score less than 5.0 - 6.5 in reading and listening and a score of 7.0 in writing and speaking, with test results within the last two years
