Immersed in an approach that integrates social, economic, and environmental values, students will view plant and animal products from consumer contexts to explore personal and community perceptions about food sustainability.
- By 2050, global food demand is forecast to be 70 per cent greater than the current demand. This increase must be achieved from a degraded natural resource base and with a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
- To effectively address issues such as this will require a fundamental shift in the way we view and manage the environment, agriculture, food, and health.
- Students will gain critical thinking skills and the ability to contribute innovative solutions to the complex challenge of future sustainable agriculture and food security.
