About Master Of Business Information Systems in Swinburne University of Technology

The Master of Business Information Systems has been designed to provide students with an understanding of the use and management of information systems in organisations. The course offers students the knowledge and skills required to work as an analyst in this field. Students learn about the underpinnings of information systems, including studies in business analysis, IT project management and enterprise information management, requirements analysis, database design and professional issues. They also learn how to approach organisational problems from a broader, interdisciplinary perspective, and address information systems risk management, enterprise architecture, and information systems strategy and governance. Students select a specialisation from business analysis, IT project management or enterprise information management, and may broaden their study by undertaking elective units. Students complete a research project, enabling them to build an area of expertise.

• Applicants should have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree. Applicants with an undergraduate degree in IS or IT may be eligible for up to four exemptions and depending on the number of exemption(s) given, will need to complete at least 12 more units to qualify for the award, OR
• Applicants with other tertiary degrees (i.e. graduate certificate, graduate diploma) in IS or IT may be eligible for exemptions on a case-by-case basis, OR
• Successful completion of the Masters Qualifying Program

English language requirements

Each Swinburne course has a minimum English language requirement for entry.

Swinburne English Language Centre - EAP 5 advanced level with overall 65% & all skills 65% or above

IELTS (Academic Module) - Overall 6.5  No individual band below 6.0

PTE Academic - 79 (Reading no less than 18, Writing no less than 20)

PTE Academic - 58 (no communicative skill less than 50)
