The healthcare landscape is changing and challenging the way we currently educate the workforce. The population is living longer with complex and chronic conditions, and many people have increasing expectations of technology. The traditional, siloed approach to healthcare is becoming increasingly ineffective and inefficient in meeting patients’ needs and desires to live independently in the community. We require a healthcare workforce that engages in lifelong learning, is informed about the changes in research evidence and is able to develop different models and systems of care. Are you a mid-career professional, ready to be a health leader or change-maker? The program is designed for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, health administrators, academics, and health journalists who want to problem solve healthcare challenges within their local or larger health systems. During this program, you will use design thinking, problem-solving, and systems thinking to challenge your perspective of the health system so that you can apply the evidence to bring about systematic improvements. This will enable you to influence and translate information and technology, to bring about positive system change to meet the healthcare needs of the 21st century. The Master of Healthcare Innovations will provide graduates with the skills to identify opportunities for evidence-informed innovations. The Master of Healthcare Innovations is offered full time over 3 semesters (one-year) or part-time over multiple semesters. It blends intensive workshops and online learning to cater for interstate or international students, and those balancing study with work and family commitments. Most subjects have face to face workshops conducted concurrently with other subjects to enable limited on-campus attendance. In the final semester, students undertake a capstone placement in an area of their interest and choice, which allows them to practically apply their learnings to a local, national or international project while developing an extensive network of future collaborators. This innovative program offers three exit points – Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master’s Degree.
