College Info

Private research university George Washington University was founded in 1821. It is connected to ORAU, SURA, CUWMA, NAICU, and CUW. Originally known as Columbian University, the university's name was changed to its current one, George Washington University, in 1904. The university is also well-known for planning important occasions including presidential debates, World Bank gatherings, and conference management for IMF Annual Meetings.

The university has three campuses: the Foggy Bottom Campus, the Virginia Science and Technology Campus, and the Mount Venom Campus. On the campuses in Foggy Bottom and Mount Venom, there are lodging options. The Virginia Science and Technology campus is home to three libraries: the Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library, the Gelman Library, and the Virginia Science and Technology Library. There are countless books and novels in the libraries. The primary campus, Foggy Bottom, occupies 43 acres of land. Along with all the necessary amenities, it has residence halls. Potomac House, Mitchell Hall, Thurston Hall, Guthridge Hall, Philip Amsterdam Hall, and Madison Hall are a few of the most well-known residence halls.

The institution provides programmes at the undergraduate, graduate, and study abroad levels in a range of subject areas. The largest institution of higher learning is reputedly GW University. Around 12,000 undergraduates and 16,000 graduate students from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Marshall Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and 132 other countries are enrolled at all campuses. 119 professor posts at GW are endowed, and nine faculty members are currently National Academies members. With more than 83 present and previous Fulbright Scholars working for the university, GW is also known as one of the top producers of these scholars.

The university is home to a number of renowned research centres and institutes, including the Institute for MEMS & VLSI Technology, the Centre for Advanced Study of Human Paleobiology, the GW Cancer Institute, the Centre for Aging, and the Centre for Regulatory Studies. These facilities and educational institutions aid students in acquiring practical knowledge in their chosen fields of study. They are mentored by knowledgeable faculty members. They are also given the chance to visit a place to gain exposure.

William Barr, the current attorney general of the United States, Shahid Abbasi, the 21st prime minister of Pakistan, Kun-Hee Lee, the chairman of Samsung, J. William Fulbright, the founder of the Fulbright Program, and Julius Axelrod are among the famous alumni of GW University (Nobel Prize in Medicine).
