University of Salford, is a public university located in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, 1 mile west of Manchester City Center.

It attracts thousands of students from around the world every year, and is located on the banks of the Irwell River in 160 acres (65 hectares) of parkland.

University of Salford is one of the largest employers in the area, and makes an important contribution to the local economy.

Salford was one of the first universities to offer a 'sandwich' degree, a year-long job placement, and with its strong links to various industries, many students can secure internships, placements, and live work briefs.

Campus

The university campus is spread over three sites: Peel Park, MediaCityUK and Frederick Road.

The main campus of Peel Park is less than 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from Manchester city center on the banks of the River Irwell, adjacent to Peel Park, possibly the world's first public park, which opened on 22 August 1846.

The university has a great deal of presence in MediaCityUK, a development along the Manchester Ship Canal, in addition to the main Peel Park campus.

Salford is the only university with a MediaCityUK foundation.

The University Of Frederick Road provides health and social care courses.
