Leicester University is based in Leicester, England. Established in 1921, the University of Leicester is one of the top universities in the United Kingdom.

It is also a memorial devoted to those who lost their lives during the First World War.

The university offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. With a world-class infrastructure and highly experienced faculty members, the University of Leicester is a hub for advanced learning. Leicester focuses on research-based education and has collaborated with government departments, various universities and academic organisations.

Leicester offers more than 150 degrees across 30 subjects. The majority of courses include an optional year abroad in one of the 27 other countries.

About 20,000 students have enrolled, of which 1,500 are foreign students from over 80 countries. This is one of the fastest growing colleges in the United Kingdom and is currently undergoing a $300 million campus expansion programme.

The University of Leicester was named 'University of the Year' by Times in 2008 and placed second in the same category in 2014.

The university is renowned for the discovery of genetic fingerprinting and its contribution to the discovery and identification of the remains of King Richard III. Graduated statistics for the University of Leicester indicate that, six months after leaving the university, 96 per cent of students are employed or studying.

Accommodation

All new students will be guaranteed a seat in university-allocated accommodation if they strongly accept their place offer and apply for accommodation within the defined time period. Catered and self-catered rooms are available, as are studio apartments and shared accommodations.

How to Apply?

The steps to be followed while applying for admission to the University of Leicester are as follows:

Application Fees: 25 GBP for applying through UCAS; Postgraduate application is free for almost all courses. Some postgraduate courses require an application fee.

Application Deadline: UG applicants: UCAS application deadline – June 30; Medicine and Dentistry programs – October 15; PG applicants – Varies according to program

Entry Requirements: The entry requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants must be fulfilled before applying:

    • Completed the standard XII by the ICSE/CBSE, or another recognized state exam board, with at least 75% overall or higher depending on the course.
    • Undergraduate applicants with incomplete entry requirements can apply for an International Foundation Program which provides academic support to help applicants progress to his/her chosen undergraduate degree at the University.
