College Info

The University of Gloucestershire is a public university situated in Gloucestershire with three campuses in total. The university is situated in two locations with two campuses in Cheltenham and one in Gloucester which is Francis Close Hall, The Park, and Oxstalls, respectively. The university gained its status in the year 2001, before which its roots can be traced back to the 19th century when two distinct strands of educational provisions in Gloucestershire merged to form the University of Gloucestershire, UK.

The university consists of 8 distinct schools of study which are School of Art and Design, School of Business and Technology, School of Education, School of Health and Social Care, School of Liberal and Performing Arts, School of Media, School of Natural and Social Sciences, and the School of Sport and Exercise. Along with the taught programs, the schools are also responsible for leading the university's research as well as commercial activities in their respective fields. Students have a range of courses and subjects to choose from as it offers more than 80 undergraduate courses, 57 post-graduate as well as Ph.D. degrees. The University  is a diverse, vibrant community of 12,000 students and 1,500 staff

University of Gloucestershire Location

The University is centrally located in the UK and within easy reach of major cities. London is two hours away by car or train, with Birmingham, Bristol and Oxford all less than one hour.

Two campuses are based in the town of Cheltenham, often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’, with a third in nearby Oxstalls. Cheltenham is an attractive and peaceful town located in an area of outstanding natural beauty that attracts six million tourists from all over the world every year. It is also home to the world-famous Cheltenham Racecourse, which is also used as a venue for social events and the university graduation ceremony.

University of Gloucestershire Bursaries and Scholarships

The university offers a range of bursaries and scholarships, for details please refer to the university website. Some of these include:

  • Partnership Bursary: £500 cash bursary for eligible full-time UK undergraduate students who recently completed a full-time, further education course of at least one year, at a partner school or college. Students must reside in the UK or EU, and be liable for the full tuition fee.
  • Care Leavers Scholarships (15 available): for students under 25 years old who have been in local authority care for 13 weeks or more (spanning their 16th birthday) and entering their first year of full-time undergraduate study. Up to £9,000 per year is offered, comprising a 50% fee waiver and up to £4,500 towards accommodation, general living and study costs.
  • Financial Assistance Fund: the university has a means-tested, non-repayable fund to support students who face unexpected financial hardship during their course.
  • Placement Expenses Bursaries: for students undertaking work experience to cover appropriate costs incurred including travel, childcare or accommodation. The amount covered is on average £150, although for placements in the UK claims of up to £500 may be considered, and £1,000 for international placements. Available on a first-come first-served basis.
